The General Directorate of Information Systems (GDIS) is MOI’s IT systems and services provider and integrator that introduces and manages both IT systems and services delivery channels for the welfare of the Qatari community, keeping pace with today’s digital revolution while adhering to world-class standards and best practices of information security, privacy, and secrecy. Thanks to the unlimited support of H.E. Minister of State for Internal Affairs and the sincere cooperation of all MOI stakeholder departments and agencies regarding the digital transformation of MOI services, the GDIS has made notable achievements in saving time and effort for all service applicants, Qataris and residents alike. Furthermore, work is relentless in enhancing MOI’s technical infrastructure, network, and Internet backbone to further boost MOI’s IT systems and service channels to maintain the highest availability rate for these e-Services, through smart applications (Metrash2) or on MOI’s website (www.moi.gov.qa). The General Directorate of Information Systems: • Works with the various MOI’s departments and/or agencies to design and develop the different software applications, and to build the technical infrastructure necessary for those departments and/or agencies to execute their missions, based on highest quality standards and best practices. • Builds the knowledge base required for decision-making support. • Achieves highest rates of security and secrecy for the different databases of Qatari nationals, residents, and institutions/companies, and keeps such data against loss or misuse. • Connects all MOI’s work centers and locations within one standard and invulnerable computerized network. • Provides state-of-art and innovative channels for MOI’s service delivery, a matter that would facilitate processing transactions on one hand, and save time for applicants and service users on the other. • Co-operates with other ministries, institutions, and agencies in providing public services jointly. • Follows up on the new developments in the IT and related fields, and explores other world-class experiences for the purpose of singling out the best of breed technologies that would cater for MOI’s needs. • Develops the strategic planning for the use of information technology according to the objectives set by the Ministry. • Conducts feasibility and related studies on newly introduced technologies, methodologies, software systems, for all MOI’s department automation works. • Provides training for MOI staff members on using advanced systems deployed in MOI’s departments. • Provides technical assistance to all departments and sections of MOI.
